Luther Vandross, the author and performer of his own songs, who started out with David Bowie and Barbara Streisand, turned 49 on April 20. In the 1970's he formed the group Luther, and in 1981 he started his solo career with the album "Never Too Much," which was also the start of his success. Vandross wrote songs for Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and many others. He was the one that was the author of the Supremes' "Return to Love." This song was the feature on the last album, and also gave the name to the group's current tour.
