There will be a huge musical event on July 1 and 2 called OPEN-AIR, a festival of electronic music and new technologies in contemporary music, organized by Russian and German promoters and musicians, as well as artistic directors in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Hamburg together with the Goethe Cultural Center in Germany and other cultural organizations. The site of the festival will be Fort Alexander, a beautiful fortress built at the beginning of the 19th Century on the island of Kotlin (Kronstadt). Viewers will be able to get to the island only by water transport.
During a period of 24 hours, the audience will be presented with a series of performances and various artistic, pyrotechnic, and other types of exhibitions. Three dance floors will feature various styles of contemporary electronic music- anything from ambient to techno to drum-and-bass. Participants will include Chugunnyi Skorokhod (Iron Steam-Engine, St. Petersburg), Lunatics, Michael Zauer (Mojo Club, Hamburg), Sugar Chicken (Hamburg) and many DJ's.
Apart from that, there will be 12 halls presenting interactive objects created using network, video and computer technology, as well as performances. The audience is expected to be around 5000 people.
