The 2nd festival of Alfred Schnitke music, devoted to the composer's 65th anniversary, opens today in Chaikovsky Concert hall, Moscow. This festival is organized by Ministry of culture of Russian Federation, Moscow government, Moscow Conservatoire and German Embassy in Russia. It will last till November 23, and is dubbed "Russia and Germany: to the commemoration of the great composer".
"Schnitke for us is a symbolic character bringing together Russia and Germany", - says Volfgang Brett, attache of German embassy in RF.
The concert program includes symphonic compositions, chorales and soundtracks to movies and theater performances. Besides, the festival will present a scientific conference, devoted to Schnitke's works, and it will introduce a book titled "To Alfred Schnitke". Famous acts like Natalia Gutman, Oleg Krysa, Irina Schnitke will participate in the concerts.
