Ольга БОРОДИНА  Money From Concert Will Fund Reconstruction of Bolshoi Theater

The money raised by the concert given by famous Russian mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina in Lisbon will be donated to the international fund for reconstructing the Bolshoi Theater. The concert took place yesterday in one of the biggest concert halls of the Portugal capital. It was organized by a Portuguese charity foundation in partnership with the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. The money will be transferred to a special account within the framework of the Ionesko Program for Central and Eastern European Countries, set aside for the restoration of the Bolshoi Theater as a monument to world culture. In 1993, Ionesko signed an agreement with the government that it would oversee the restoration of the main building. The agreement is in effect until 2005.
