Puff Daddy (a.k.a. Sean Combs) was accused of striking Universal Records executive Steve Stoute, manager of 'Nas' at his office with a champagne bottle, a chair, and a telephone. Rapper disliked Nas' clip "Hate Me Now" and called Stoute on the telephone demanding cutting some footage out. When it was not done, Puff, probably literally understood the title of the song, went to visit him.

Puff Daddy was sentenced to one-day "anger managing program" (another option was seven years in jail). After that Puff and Stoute solved the problem and appeared together in public. Puff's lawyer said outside the courthouse: "This is a case that is much ado about nothing. It was an unfortunate incident... He felt very good about taking the plea."
