Doug Sahm Found Dead

Doug Sahm, leader of the Texas Tornados and the Sir Douglas Quintet, was found dead Thursday in a Taos hotel room. The cause of the 58-year-old singer's death has not been determined. Sahm may have had a heart attack, for, according to his friend, he had been complaining about some numbness in his hand.

Sahm's music combined elements of rock, country, R&B, and Mexican styles, he performed with such musicians as Bob Dylan and Dr. John; he appeared on some Grateful Dead recordings during the '70s.
