METALLICA  NAPSTER Reacts to Metallica's Lawsuit

As we've already reported, Metallica sued three American universities and the makers of NAPSTER for unauthorized use of audiofiles.
Since our last report, there were some answers. Group manager Cliff Bernstein stated that the university sites published several early songs, including the single "Disappear" and tracks from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack. Bernstein further remarked that he believes this is not the only case for such incidents.
Authorized NAPSTER representative (in other words, PR) Aileen Richardson responded, among other things, with the following: "It's very unfortunate that the group put out the press-release and the lawsuit before contacting us and trying to resolve this conflict outside the court room. Many groups got in touch with us and received thorough information on exactly how our programs function, what you can do with them, and how they can be beneficial to musicians. However, if the group insists on a lawsuit, we will defend ourselves in court."
Meanwhile Yale University, the University of Southern California, and the State University of Indiana did not comment on the lawsuit.
