The Year In Memory of Bach

The Goethe Cultural Center of Germany is holding a series of events to commemorate the 250 anniversary of the death of J. S. Bach, commonly entitled "The Year in Memory of Bach." The sphere of influence of this project will include Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. The series in Moscow will be initiated with a performance of Bach's oration "Passions for Mathew" at the Bolshoi Concert Hall on March 15. There will also be an exhibit to honor the life and works of the composer, which will include materials from the Leipzig archives and will be held at the State Historical Museum April 25 through May 15.
