... What's more, once upon a time there is an Alexander Levin.

We do not categorise him under a specific genre, because he is a poet, in the first place, and a joker and prankster like you've never seen before, in the second. He is like this wherever you come across him - in his poems that live a life of their own and in his music that gives his poems a hand to help them through. Yeah, some guys did try to register him with this or that genre, but then, Zap! and here you are, with a new Alexander Levin's song of a very different sort. So, there are all manner of his songs: outwardly Soviet, outwardly rock n' roll, outwardly Beer Songs, etc., etc. The great thing about them is that all of them are smart and good. Well, indulging, after all, in placing him under a genre we would call him A Singing Poet - but: what kind of a poet is he? And of what kind of singing is he a poet?

Anything beyond this would be reviewers' make-believe, and there's no stopping for the reviewers eager to dryasdust and cover with a web of words everything around. Now, with Alexander Levin this is not to happen, because his are merry songs, although "post-modernistically polystylistic" (Gracious Mercy!)

Another thing to mention: this here place is like no other place, you know. Should you be looking for something genre-explicit rather than just being after rejoicing at dazzling lyrics and quite a decent arrangement, then your path lies further down the scroll. This place, instead, is an oasis. A place with the palm-trees and a water well, but without signboards specifying schools, directions, or trends. A little of everything, this is what you are offered here: thinking, listening, laughing, having fun, and feeling sad.

Alexander Levin's songs are poetry. His poetry, however, has music for a mate, which is all the more pleasant in our view.
